Romania is a country located at the crossroads of Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe. It has a predominantly temperate-continental climate and an area of 238,397 km2 (92,046 sq mi), with a population of around 19 million. Romania is the twelfth-largest country in Europe, and the sixth-most populous member of European Union. Its capital and largest city is Bucharest and other major urban areas include Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Timișoara, Constanța or Brașov.

Its economy is now based predominantly on services, but also as a producer and net exporter of machines and electric energy through companies such as Dacia Renault and OMV Petrom. Romania is a member of NATO since 2004, and part the European Union since 2007. The majority of Romania’s population are ethnic Romanian and religiously identify themselves as Eastern Orthodox Christians, speaking Romanian, a Romance language.

More than 150,000 homes and apartments have been sold across the country from January to November 2021. Which means a 65% increase.

In Bucharest and its surroundings alone, last year there were over 25,000 apartments and houses in various stages of construction, and all represent investments of 750 million euros, half of the total nationwide. For the first time in the last decade, Timișoara surpasses Cluj-Napoca in the number of homes under development – 5,500 comparing to 5,000.

A Deloitte study shows that houses and apartments prices in Romania are among the lowest in Europe. Thus, in the ascending order of prices, Romania ranks 4th among the 24 countries analysed. However, in the residential segment, prices have increased by 18% in the last 5 years.

Cluj-Napoca continues to have the most expensive homes in the country. At the end of 2021, the average price reached was 2,051 euros per useful square meter, meaning 11.5% more than in the similar period of 2020.
